SEN Learning Support Assistant – Long-Term Opportunity – Southampton

Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join one of our specialist partner schools in Southampton on a long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for somebody passionate about supporting vulnerable children and young people, with the potential for a permanent role within the school.

The specialist setting caters for pupils with a range of additional needs including autism, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, complex learning needs and medical needs. The school prides itself on creating a supportive and inclusive environment where pupils are encouraged to build confidence and achieve their full potential.

The Role:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assisting pupils both academically and emotionally throughout the school day
  • Helping students regulate emotions and engage positively in learning
  • Working closely with teaching staff and external professionals
  • Promoting a safe, structured and nurturing environment

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience within SEN, education, care or support work desirable
  • Positive, patient and proactive attitude
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
  • Genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

Pay:£14.25 per hour
